Welcome to our restaurant, where we’re passionate about creating amazing meals from locally sourced ingredients. Our kitchen is dedicated to using fresh produce that’s grown in our own vegetable garden, and we’re proud to offer farm-style food that’s hearty, delicious, and good for you.
At our restaurant, we believe that good food starts with good ingredients. That’s why we partner with local farmers and growers to bring you the freshest ingredients possible. Our menu is designed to showcase the best of what the season has to offer, and we work hard to ensure that every dish is made with care and attention to detail.

The Venue
Living Colour was built with families in mind. The venue area overlooks the picturesque play area allowing parents to enjoy a meal and a drink off our fabulous drinks menu while watching the kids play on our pirate-inspired jungle gym, our yoyo zipline, water feature, pump tracks and 1-kilometer cycle route. For creative kids, there is an opportunity for drawing and rock painting. Lily and Daisy, our resident pet sheep, can be found grazing somewhere at Living Colour and love to engage with our visitors.

Weekend Mountain Biking Rides in Darling
Join Kevin Wood, long-time Darling resident and avid mountain bike rider for a guided ride through lesser-known trails in the rolling hills of Darling on a combination of sheep and jeep tracks. The day starts at Living Colour with a delicious breakfast of your choice and an opportunity to meet your fellow riders.
The ride starts on the single tracks of Living Colour Trails and climbs up Klipberg with your first views of the day, the beautiful Groot Winterhoek mountains in the distance. The flora and fauna in this area are spectacular and offer seasonal beauty.
A long downhill ride takes you on a flat stretch to the village of Darling and up into the hills covered in Rhenosterveld and vineyards. Climbing up jeep tracks takes you to a vista with stunning views of Table Mountain. This is the halfway point where you can enjoy an ice-cold beer, enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean with Skaap Eiland in the distance.
The second half of the ride takes you back into the hills with the longest climb of the day and the vineyards of the wines which you can look forward to tasting. Riding through the vines offers you 360-degree views of the ocean and the distant mountains. You are left with a long decent into the village with an easy ride back to Living Colour where you will finish your morning with a Diemersdal wine tasting and a Mezze platter.
Adventure Rides in Darling
Modern-day adventurer and co-founder of Darling Brew and Darling Brew Extreme, Kevin Wood has spent the last 40 years travelling extensively throughout Southern and Eastern Africa, exploring “off the beaten track” locations that are memorable for their beauty and serenity. This, along with his passion for mountain biking and desire to share this experience with others, has culminated in Living Colour Adventure Rides, a bespoke experience for individuals, families, friends or colleagues.
This pioneering pathfinder and avid bike rider has connected with local folks in these remote areas along his travels and packaged adventures based on the experiences he has enjoyed the most. The hosts at the overnight stays invite you into their beautiful space with generous hospitality and farm-to-table dining. Kevin will guide you along the way, tailoring the rides to suit your pace, guaranteeing you a unique experience, spectacular views and memories for life. The rides are restricted to 10 pax only and take place three times a year in the following areas. Kevin can also tailor-make packages according to your needs. E-bikes are welcome!
Activities for Kids at Living Colour
Kids will love playing in our water features, exploring the jungle gym, and experiencing the thrill of our zipline. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy a leisurely walk with their dogs on our scenic trails.
For the young, we offer a pirate-styled jungle gym inspired by The Black Pearl. There are two kiddie yoyo zip lines and 2 pump tracks, one for balance bikes and one for peddle bikes, as well as a 1km mtb trail. The water feature doubles up as a giant drawing pad in the winter and rock art is available for the more creative kids.

Serving suggestion
Biltong, carrot and cucumber sticks, fruit and delicious loaves of available. Additional services of jumping castle and pony rides are available. We can assist with cake sourcing from local supplier Red Box.
Our Mountain Biking Routes
Our routes are a combination of jeep, sheep and single track.
On-site showers to freshen up after your ride.
Routes are open to cyclists, runners and walkers.
Route Licenses
A day license to use the routes is R50 per person and R30 for children under 16.
Annual licenses are available at R500 per person or R600 per family membership. These are discounted to half price annually from 1st July.
Bike hire is available. 24 hours’ notice is recommended on any bike hire, to avoid disappointment.
Living Colour Parkrun (Darling)
Living Colour hosts a Parkrun every Saturday at 8 am. Come run or walk with us.
Our Story
Living Colour is a collection of all things the Wood Family love; travel, sport, food, wine, nature, and family. Long-time residents of Darling and strong ambassadors to the quaint village, we have travelled extensively through Africa, and along our journeys had 2 beautiful daughters and over time have sought out destinations that offer something for everyone in our family to enjoy. Living Colour is the result of these experiences, bringing together many of the destinations’ offerings that we have enjoyed. We are not newcomers to starting and building businesses in Darling and are enjoying creating another destination on the map to experience local cuisine, mountain biking and the best family activities Darling has to offer.
Living Colour opened its doors on the1st of December 2021 and we have enjoyed the journey thus far of engaging with our visitors and ensuring all those that visit us feel the Darling hospitality. We have watched our indigenous garden transform with our first spring and are enjoying growing into the potential of this truly beautiful venue.
