Tourism Indaba gets a West Coast flavour
Africa’s biggest tourism trade show is currently underway in Durban and this event remains one of the most renowned gatherings for the tourism sector. This is no different for one of South Africa’s favourite regions, the #Weskus.
With its rugged coast line, cultural and heritage offerings and picturesque fauna and flora the West Coast remains a destination of choice for local and international tourists. It is the diversity of this region which always grabs the attention of travel agents and tour operators alike, all wanting to know more about this “untapped” region.
“Indaba offers us the ideal opportunity to promote our region and to prove that we can compete with any other region in South Africa. We offer unique and authentic experiences for tourists of any age” said Kiewiet van Rooyen, Marketing Manager.
One of the regions latest developments is a Weskus Culture and Heritage Route with unique products along the R27 and N7 routes stretching from Swarland to Matzikama and back. Offerings include the Goedverwacht Home Stay Experience, Cederberg Donkey Cart Ride and Rieldansers, Paternoster Art Route, !Khwa ttu San Culture Centre, carpets of veld flowers in spring, award winning wines and olives, fishing villages and open air seafood restaurants.
