Samantha has 23 years of hospitality experience and is currently the General Manager of Hotel Verde, Africa’s greenest hotel. This 4-star eco hotel is situated 400m from Cape Town International Airport. Samantha is committed, positive, exceptionally organised with acute business acumen and has a specific focus on growth, profitability and overall pioneer on sustainable hospitality management.
She has represented Hotel Verde at many international projects including Indaba, World Design Capital, as well as for awards such as LEED and Heritage Certifications, World Travel Market Responsible Tourism, Internorga, Enviropaedia Eco-Logic, and Eskom Save Awards. She is actively involved in social and community initiatives. She has a driven vision for upgrading the hospitality industry and tourism perception that includes pioneering in sustainable management, thrivable hospitality solutions and green building, in which Hotel Verde is at the forefront. Hotel Verde has recently been awarded at WTM London as most sustainable city hotel 2014 as well as the Green Hotelier 2015 award Africa Middle East.
Samantha joined Hotel Verde one year prior to its construction in 2012, and still manages the hotel, which now showcases the most advanced environmentally conscious technological installations and operational practices in the world. Hotel Verde is the first hotel in Africa to receive LEED Platinum for new construction and to offer carbon neutral accommodation and conferencing at no extra cost to the guest. Hotel Verde became the perfect flagship model for future green hotels and with this now the first truly sustainable hospitality management company, VERDE HOTELS.
